Yes. All the timber in bows made by Heritage Longbows is sourced from specialist timber importers, and each item is personally inspected for faults before it is despatched.
Laminated bows and glass composite bows carry a 12 month warranty from the date of delivery or collection. If your bow breaks or fails due to faulty materials or workmanship, within 3 months we will repair or replace it free of charge; between 3 and 6 months it will be replaced at 25% of the current retail price; and between 6 and 12 months at 50% of the current retail price. At our discretion we may repair rather than replace. The warranty is offered on an ex-works basis. No warranty is given or implied on unfinished items such as bow staves and bow kits.
Yes, we ship worldwide. Our online postage rules are set up for the UK, and because postage costs change and long or oversize parcels are charged at a premium by the couriers, some destinations can cost more than the checkout quotes - Australia and New Zealand are the usual examples. Place your order as normal and we will email you if there is a difference to pay. If you would rather not go ahead at that point, we will refund you in full. We always try to find the best postage cost for your country.
Check the bow for damage before you string it, and replace a damaged string rather than shooting it. Brace the bow about 10 minutes before shooting so the fibres in the timber settle, and use the double looped stringer supplied, making sure both loops sit correctly in the string groove. Brace height is a maximum of 6 inches from the belly side of the grip to the string. Warm the bow up with six pulls at quarter, half, three-quarter and full draw. Never shoot a bow without an arrow nocked, do not hold it at full draw for more than 2 or 3 seconds, and do not draw beyond its maximum draw length. If you are shooting in the wet, dry the bow between ends to protect the finish. Following this guidance also keeps your Heritage warranty valid.
Yes. We run a Longbow and Warbow making course: two full days in which you make your own English Longbow and learn the techniques behind it, so you finish with a bow you have made yourself and can shoot.
